Welcome to the new website!
| More than Carpets purchased a 1982 Ford Bronco with the idea of fixing it up for racing in the Naukati mud bogs and using it as a rolling billboard for the business. I had thought that all it needed was a fresh set of tires and some decals. It turned out that the engine was pretty tired. I hope to make the next seasons races. These pages log the progress of my Bronco. |

I have since gotten 15x10 ProComp wheels. The logos are being updated and will feature our brands in racing stripes down the sides.
After I get the engine back in I'll put a nice picture here of my BIG SIX Bronco. |
| Above is how the Bronco looked soon after its purchase. |

Above is the Bronco awaiting engine my daily driver is the Dodge.
The Bronco is going to get a whole new look with More than Carpets' products displayed much like they do in NASCAR.

I will take my ideas to the local SignPro and see what they can work up. Stay Tuned.

It came with a 4" Rancho lift, 351w with Edelbrock Performer manifold and carburetor (600cfm). It sounded like a winner--perfect to race in the mud bogs.
I had a spell of bad luck with the rig. First, I had the new wheels put on by a local service station and one of the wheels came off. Luckily, I was on my block and going super slow. The tire passed us up. My friend Chuck was in the passenger seat and my wife and two kids were in the back. Chuck was hysterical...he thought it was the coolest thing. I ordered up a replacement wheel. I put it on and double checked all of the lugs. I had put a 'for sale' sign on it and was going to drive it out to my work and park it along the road. It wasn't ready to be sold. On the way there it started making a clack clack clack sound like it was losing a wheel AGAIN. I pulled off the road and checked all of the lugs. Ah oh, they were all tight. I started it back up...clack clack clack. Shut it down and called Woody my mechanic friend. He told me to get it off the road and that it couldn't get worse. He was right as it had a hole through the block from a broken connecting rod. I had it towed home where it sat until I made my mind up on what I wanted to do.
I decided that I would build the rig for reliability. I know tha winning the mud bog with an inline 300 is unlikely but hopefully it'll do well enough. I really like the inline 300 and it puts out a lot of torque to turn big muddy tires. Also, it will hopefully attract interest as it will be different. So, that is the plan.
I've located a rebuildable block and have all of the parts ordered. The machine work gets done the end of October. Meanwhile, I am going to match port the intake & exhaust manifolds to the head, prep the block and clean up the carburetor using the kits from Standard Abrasives - Motor Sports . They have lots of how to info for amatures. I have also been getting lots of great info from the forum at FordSix.com
Take a look at my Project Galleries for a photo essay of the progress of the Bronco. |
